Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)

This procedure eliminates excess ski and fat around the eyelids resulting in a refreshed, youthful appearance. An incision in a natural skin fold of the upper eyelid or just below the eyelash margin of the lower eyelid is used to trim extra skin and remove the fat producing the bulging (“bags” or “pads). To understand the procedure see these links, Eyelid Surgery for Women or Eyelid Surgery for Men. It is critical to only remove the appropriate amount of each to have a beautiful natural result. The sutures are placed under the skin to have a very inconspicuous closure. Sometimes a reinforcement of the lower eyelid is necessary for a more youthful appearance. These procedures are usually performed under intravenous sedation/local anesthesia or a general anesthetic of about 1-2 hours duration. Recovery is usually ten to fourteen days, and most patients plan to be off work for about a week. Your eyelids look rejuvenated, refreshed and years younger.
